Hidden Wallet of Question Mark

After recent events, Question Mark is annoyed with his brother, Skid Mark. Skid thought it would be funny to hide Question's wallet.

He told Question that he would get it back if he finds it. So, first off, Skid laid five colored keys in a row. One of them is a key to a room where Skid is hiding Question's wallet.

Using the clues, can you determine the order of the keys and which is the right key?

Red: This key is somewhere to the left of the key to the door.

Blue: This key is not at one of the ends.

Green: This key is three spaces away from the key to the door (2 between).

Yellow: This key is next to the key to the door.

Orange: This key is in the middle.

Key to Get Question Mark's Wallet

Why to find Question Mark's Wallet?

Let's take a look at the given clues once again -

1.Red: This key is somewhere to the left of the key to the door.

2.Blue: This key is not at one of the ends.

3.Green: This key is three spaces away from the key to the door (2 between).

4.Yellow: This key is next to the key to the door.

5.Orange: This key is in the middle.

Now, let's draw a table of locations and color of keys as below -

Key to Get Question Mark's Wallet

From Clue No.5, it's clear that the orange key is in the middle.

As per Clue No.3, the green key is three spaces away from the key to the door (right key) (2 between). So, the possible positions of green and right keys
are -

Since as per Clue No.4, yellow key is next to the key to the door, the key to the door can't be positioned at 2 or 5. Hence, it might be positioned at 1 or 4 with Green key at 4 or 1.

But as per Clue No.1, red key is somewhere to the left of the key to the door. For that, the right key can't be positioned at 1 as in that case, no position would be left for the red key as per clue.

Hence, Green key must be at 1 and right key at 4.

And now as per Clue No. 4, yellow key is next to right key.

Key to Get Question Mark's Wallet

As per Clue No.1, red key is somewhere left to the right key, hence it must be at position 2.

And as per Clue No.2, blue isn't at either end. Rather blue key is the only key left. So, the position left for it is position 4 which is of Right key. Hence, Blue key itself is RIGHT key to the door of room where Question Mark's wallet is placed.

What was that order?

The ordered sequence executed by the person is as follows :

1 2 3 3 2 1 4 2 3 1 4 2 2 3 3 1 4 1 1 3 2 3 4.

The question asks the final count of apple in the basket.

One apple is placed in the basket on order of ONE and one apple is removed when ordered FOUR.

So,

the number of apples placed in basket = Number of 1's in order sequence.

and

the number of apples taken out of basket = Number of 4's in order sequence.

Then,

the number of apples remaining in the basket = Number of 1's in order sequence - Number of 4's in order sequence = 6 - 4 = 2.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.1 How many apples will be there in the basket at the end of the above order sequence ? (a) 4 (b) 3 (c) 2 (d) 1 2.

ANSWER - (C) 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Each time 1, 2 or 3 ordered, one fruit is added to the basket but when ever 4 is ordered, two fruits are removed from it.

Total number of fruits = Number of 1's + Number of 2's + Number of 3's - 2 x (Number of 4's) = 6 + 6 + 7 - (2x4) = 19 - 8= 11.

Q.2 How many fruits will be there in the basket at the end of the above order sequence ? (a) 13 (b) 17 (c) 9 (d) 11

ANSWER - (d) 11

The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

Many contestants entered the unicycle race, but only the best multi-tasking clown came out on top, considering that each had to juggle clubs while trying to win the race! Most of the pack were soon disqualified after dropping a club or falling off the unicycle. In the end, four of the best clowns crossed the finish line.

From this information and the clues below, can you determine each clown's full (real) name, club color (one is silver), and placement?

Places: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
First Names: Kyle, Matt, Jake, Leon
Surnames: Turner, Pettle, Vertigo, Wheeley
Colors: Green, Orange, Silver, Red

1. Mr. Turner (who isn't Matt) finished one place ahead of the red club juggler.

2. The four are Leon, Mr. Vertigo, the one who juggled with orange clubs, and the one who came in third place.

3. Kyle finished behind (but not one place behind) Mr. Wheeley.

4. Matt and Mr. Pettle finished consecutively, in some order.

5. The one who juggled with green clubs finished two places behind Jake.

What was the puzzle?

Let's take a look at the given data.

------------------------------------------------------------

Places: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

First Names: Kyle, Matt, Jake, Leon

Surnames: Turner, Pettle, Vertigo, Wheeley

Colors: Green, Orange, Silver, Red

1. Mr. Turner (who isn't Matt) finished one place ahead of the red club juggler.

2. The four are Leon, Mr. Vertigo, the one who juggled with orange clubs, and the one who came in third place.

3. Kyle finished behind (but not one place behind) Mr. Wheeley.

4. Matt and Mr. Pettle finished consecutively, in some order.

5. The one who juggled with green clubs finished two places behind Jake.

------------------------------------------------------------

We will make a table like below and fill it step by step.

 STEPS :

1] As per clue (2), Leon, Mr. Vertigo, the one who juggled with orange clubs, and the one who came in third place are supposed to be different. Hence, Leon or Vertigo didn't finish at 3. So, Pettle or Turner must be at 3.

2] But as per (1), Matt isn't a Turner, and as per (4) Matt and Pettle are two different persons. Hence, Matt didn't finish at 3 for sure.

3] As per (3), Mr. Wheely too can't be at 3 as in that case no placement would be left for Kyle. And Jake too can't be at 3 as in that case no placement would be left for the one who juggled with green clubs.

So, if Leon, Matt and Jake aren't at 3 then Kyle must be at 3 having surname Pettle or Turner.

4] With that, Mr. Wheely must have finished first as clue (3) suggests.

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

5] Now, as per (1), Turner didn't finish at no.4 since there would be no place for red club juggler. Also, as per (4), Pettle can't be at 4 since Matt can't be at 3 (STEP 3). Hence, at no.4, Vertigo is there.

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

6] As per (2), Vertigo and Leon are 2 different contestants. Also, as per clue (5) Jake can't be at no.4 as in that case there would be no place left for the one who juggled green clubs. Hence, the first name of Vertigo is Matt.

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

7] Now, clue (4) suggests Pettle is at no.3

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

8] The only place for the Turner is no.2 and by (1), Kyle Pettle is red club juggler.

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

9] Now, the only locations left for the contestants pointed by clue (5) i.e. for Jake and green club juggler are 2 and 4.

In The Race of Multi-Tasking Clowns

10] The only location left for Leon is no.1 and as per (2), Leon and orange club juggler are different. Hence, Leon must be a silver club juggler and Jake Turner is orange club juggler.

CONCLUSION :

So, the final stats of race are -

Guess The Order Of Cards

A man sitting opposite you has four cards in his hand facing him: 2, 3, 4 and 5 (but not in that order). He wants them placed in ascending order from his left to his right. To do this, he takes the leftmost card (from your perspective) and puts it last. He then takes the third card from the right (your right) and puts it in the last place.

What was the previous order of the cards?

Identified The Order of The Cards

How cards were shuffled?

Since he puts the leftmost card (from our point of view) to it's opposite location that card must be 2 (that's the smallest one & needs to be first in ascending order).

So the last card (from his point of view) must be 2. We still don't know exact positions of 3,4,5. Now 2 is in first position

Now what he does is that, moves third card from his left (our right) to the last position. Now to be in ascending order the last card must be 5. So the card that he used in this move must be 5.

Since these 2 moves completes the ascending order, rest must be in ascending from left to right already i.e as 3 & 4 but 5 in between them.

Hence the order before he moved cards must be as 3,5,4,2.

Hence the order before he moved cards must be as 3,5,4,2.
